In our “After 5” articles we like to find interesting and noteworthy things that our customers are doing after the work day is over.
This month we want to share with you a journey that one of our customers couriers is embarking on. Doug Nantz, who works for Doyle and Wallace, is going to hike the Appalachian Trail this spring. Doug is leaving April 2, 2014 to hike the Appalachian Trail. He chose April 2nd because that is the same day two years ago he found out he had throat cancer. So far the scans are showing no signs of cancer and he is otherwise healthy. He is hiking to celebrate his survival and to honor those who lost the fight. Doug has wanted to hike the AT since he hiked parts of the trail as a boy scout. For the past six months he has been planning and gearing up for the 2200 mile trek from Georgia to Maine. His step dad and father in law will join him at the beginning of the hike, leaving Doug at some point to finish the trail on his own. Averaging 15 miles a day, it will take 5 to 6 months to complete. They will carry everything they need on their backs and resupply at the towns they pass along the way.
We want to wish Doug and his family (including his wife Dawn Nantz, paralegal at Doyle and Wallace) the best on this incredible journey! We are all rooting for you Doug!
