By now, many of you know that a new lien law will go into effect on April 1, 2013. We in the title insurance industry believe that the provisions of the law will go a long way to preventing the imposition of “hidden liens” and offer protection to your clients from the same. The purpose of this article is to inform you of the changes that will result from the implementation of the new law. First, be aware that the provisions of the new law only impacts new construction in excess of $30,000. In all other instances the provisions of the law will not change.
