All of you are aware that Federal Tax liens don’t play by the same rules as other encumbrances. Through a series of cases, it is established law that the Federal Tax Lien trump interests in real property that might otherwise be exempt from attachment by other kinds of judgments. Our friends at NATIC have provided us with a handy dandy Bulletin to help us navigate these troubled waters. Click HERE to read the Bulletin.
SOFTPRO SELECT/SMARTVIEW UPDATE
First and foremost we want to say THANK YOU for your patience as we navigate the new SoftPro Select and SmartView programs. We know these programs are going to be greatly beneficial for our processes and we are working diligently to iron out all of the kinks.
Below is a quick visual so you know what to expect in your inbox when you see emails from us that are generated through SmartView. There is only a link to the PDF in the email that you will click to access the order. No need to download anything or login.

MEET OUR NEW UNDERWRITING COUNCIL
The name “Kate Foshee” should be familiar to all of you. Kate has been an Underwriter with us since May of 2015. What you all did not know is that Kate moved to Kansas City three plus years ago and in between preparing commitments and issuing policies she attended Law School at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Kate graduated in the top 15% of her class and sat for the North Carolina Bar in February. Kate did well enough on the Exam to pass the North Carolina Bar and waive into South Carolina! We are all super proud of her.
Kate’s primary focus will be in the commercial space, but don’t be surprised if she answers one of your Underwriting Questions in the weeks and months to come.
We are thrilled to welcome to the Barristers Family,
Brice Fortson Bullard, newborn son to McKinney Bullard.
“Brice was born early at 37 weeks – 9lbs, 22” long at 6:39pm on April 22nd. He was named Brice after my great grandpa and Fortson was my grandmother’s maiden name.
He is very laid back and loves to eat and sleep, and has always slept through the night. He never really cries except for brief moments. His favorite thing to do is pucker his lips and raise his eyebrows.
The ultrasound tech told us the week before delivery that he was measuring at 6lbs 12oz…well, somebody got that wrong LOL!”
